Welcome to Front Range Trains!
Welcome to Frontrangetrains.com! Here, you will find the most and updated information involving the railroads that traverse through out the state of Colorado. You will find information such as: Time Tables, Radio Frequencies, Subdivision History, and much more. Every since, Feb 27, 2007, Front Range Trains had started as a small website with not that much information and a handful of photographs. Today, Front Range Trains has moved and has become a newly, frequent, and updated rail website along the Front Range. Most of the emphasis on Front Range Trains is Rail Photography.
Many railfans in Colorado have pictured the area as one of the most scenic and most popular place to railfan in the Western United States. Even though it is only the BNSF Railway and the Union Pacific Railroad, it makes Colorado seem like your some where else because of the different landscape from the Rocky Mountains to the west, or the rugged high plains in eastern Colorado. What also makes this different from some places is the different road power and the different foreign railroads that appear in Colorado. This includes: Norfolk Southern, CSX, Kansas City Southern, TFM, Ferromex, Canadian Pacific, Canadian National, Illinois Central, Soo Line, and many different leasing companies from Helm Leasing to National Rail Equipment Co.
BNSF and UP aren't the only railroads to dominate the Colorado Landscape. Short lines are other railroads that dominate Colorado. What also makes Colorado an amazing place is because most short lines have plenty of history, such as the Great Western Railway, which dates back to the late 1800s. Also, you have the Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado RailNet at Sterling, Colorado, the Cimarron Valley Railroad out of Springfield, Colorado, the Kyle Railroad out of Limon, Colorado, and much more. We hope that this brief description about how the railroads in Colorado have made this state a fascinating and popular place to railfan. So just remember, enjoy your stay, and Happy Railfanning!
